SEA ISLE CITY –– Sea Isle officials invite oversight from the county Prosecutor's Office.
Mayor Leonard Desiderio made an announcement Dec. 18 regarding continued progress in ongoing investigation of Sea Isle’s Police Chief.
Based upon the independent investigation of Frank Cook, the City has filed charges seeking removal of Chief William Kennedy, who has been suspended without pay pending a departmental hearing.
All evidence uncovered during the investigation has been turned over to the county Prosecutor’s Office.
Based in part on the evidence submitted by the city and its own ongoing investigation of the Chief, the Prosecutor announced the assignment of a monitor to assist the city’s police department.
“The city welcomes the move and support of the Prosecutor’s Office” said Desiderio. “The Prosecutor’s action is great. I have worked closely with the Prosecutor’s Office and continue to pledge the City’s full cooperation.”
Desiderio compliments the men and woman of the Sea Isle City Police Department and states that “they are among the finest and most professional anywhere. I met with Acting Chief Mike Cook, the Prosecutor and the entire Department last night to ensure a smooth running Police Department and to thank them for their dedication during this difficult time.”
Desiderio stated, “the Citizens of Sea Isle City are fully protected with the Department committed to serve and protect them” and “we will continue to work tirelessly to maintain the high level of police protection and service our Citizens deserve.”

Mayor Desiderio stated, " we will continue to work tirelessly to maintain the high level of police protection...." Mayor, what do you mean "continue," how can the mayor NOT be aware of the of what was going on with his Chief Of Police? In a small town like SIC, and especially being not only the Mayor, but a business owner and landowner, NOT be aware of what was going on. I think's Mayor Desiderio has his own beach replenishment program of his own, sticking his head in the sand and hoping it all goes away.

self-serving because that's how the whole town is run. right down from city hall and especially city hall workers.

Sea Isle has had long time problems with its police department...definitely NOT high level professionals...more self-serving than anything else.
