SEA ISLE CITY -- On Nov. 17 at about 6:30 p.m. Sea Isle City Fire Department responded to a working structure fire at 6415 Pleasure Ave. that involved six unoccupied condominiums.
The fire spread to two other adjacent structures that encompassed the condominiums. Those structures collapsed during the fire.
Other nearby dwellings also sustained minor damage.
Volunteer fire companies assisted Sea Isle City from Avalon and Ocean View in battling the three-alarm blaze.
Avalon also responded one ambulance for mutual aid. The Cape May County Fire Police responded to the scene to assist police with traffic.
One firefighter was injured when he sustained a broken leg after he slipped from a fire truck. He was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center, for treatment of his injuries.
The fire is under investigation by the Sea Isle Police Dept and the county Fire Marshal’s Office.

From what I have heard the fire was set by some one NOT on accident, like the first time. to the person saying that one of the units was for sale it was the whole bilding.

I'm pretty sure one of the houses was for sale towards the end of last summer. The North side unit of the structure it started in. Has anyone heard if they released a cause of the fire or which house specifically the fire started in (North or South)? My condolences to everyone whose houses were destroyed or damaged. Especially the owners of the brand new Gleeson house that sustained a bunch of damage. Luckily this didn't happen during the prime season or the night before when the winds were 40+ mph.

Can anyone explain what a "working structure fire at 6415 Pleasure" means? Any idea at all how this fire started?
(ED. NOTE: A working structure fire means flames and smoke are showing, and that the fire is likely to spread.)

I have a home in close proximity to the fire that leveled three homes on the beach at Sea Isle City. To look at the wreckage, it seems inconceivable that my house could have survived. The fire departments of Sea Isle City, Ocean View, Stone Harbor and Avalon, who responded to the call deserve recognition. I have much to be thankful for on this holiday and will be forever grateful to all of the volunteers of these departments who put themselves at risk.

Actually there was little wind that night, to the first comment. The smoke almost went straight up like a "nuclear mushroom cloud"

High winds and limited access make fighting that type pf beach front fire particularly difficult. However, greed has once again outrun common sense at the Jersey Shore. These homes should never have been allowed to be rebuilt in that location without significant early warning or fire protection systems. Not to mention the proximity of these homes causes an obvious domino effect when one catches afire. Better set backs, mandatory alarm systems and even (perish the thought) residential sprinklers might have saved something.

Something seems fishy down in Sea Isle City. But then again I'm sure the homes are just as flamable in an appreciating market too!

Two of three houses burned down 10 years ago. 10 year old house, time for a new one?
