Volunteers are to report to Kennedy Boulevard and the Promenade, from 10 a.m. to noon. Members of the commission will be there to sign up volunteers and to distribute cleanup materials and survey forms to tally the types of debris found on the beaches. Volunteers may select the beaches they wish to clean up or will be assigned areas. During the fall cleanups, free dune grass is distributed to volunteers to plant on their favorite dunes.

Families, scouts and school groups, community organizations, owners of beachfront properties, and anyone interested in preserving the dunes are urged to participate in this important project. Data collected will be forwarded to Clean Ocean Action, which compiles an annual report on the debris found on beaches in New Jersey.

Good soldiers deserve rewards, and the environmental commission has arranged for all volunteers to receive free hot dogs and sodas following the cleanup at noon.

Note: Clean Ocean Action beach clean-ups are also taking place in Stone Harbor and North Wildwood. Check What’s On Deck calendar.
