“Family Tree”, a collaborative exhibit of The Center for Community Arts and The Carriage House Gallery, celebrates its move to the West Cape May Borough Hall at 732 Broadway in West Cape May.
An opening reception takes place on June 19th, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.; light refreshments will be served. As featured on KYW News radio 1060 Philadelphia, “Family Tree” traces the origins, descendants and relationships of Cape May’s oldest and most prominent African American families.
The exhibit’s opening date, June 19th is significant as that date is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. “Juneteenth” as it is widely known, commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. For more information about the exhibit please call The Center for Community Arts at (609) 884-7525.
