Cape May Court House-The Cape May County Library is delighted to invite teens, ages 12-18 to a free concert featuring “The Moaning Myrtles,” a wizard rock band. This special program is at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 21st at the Main Branch of the Library located at 30 Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Lauren and Nina make up “The Moaning Myrtles,” a piano-based wizard rock band from Hillsborough, New Jersey. Wizard rock is a musical movement dating from 2002 that consists of at least 500 bands made up of young musicians playing songs about Harry Potter.
The lyrics are usually humorous and simple, and bands write songs from the point of view of a particular character in the books. Additionally, they dress as the character when performing in concert.
Since 2006, the Moaning Myrtles have played alongside wizard rock bands such as The Remus, Lupins, The Whomping Willows, Draco and the Malfoys, The Parselmouths, and Ministry of Magic. The Moaning Myrtles are winners of various Wizard Rock People’s Choice Awards.
