Law Enforcement Survivor's Weekend

(North Wildwood, NJ)—The city of North Wildwood will again host a very special event the weekend of September 26th-28th, 2008. The city will pay tribute to families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.
“This is a very important weekend for North Wildwood, and we’re proud to recognize families who have sacrificed, and lost, so much”, said North Wildwood Mayor Bill Henfey. “The North Wildwood Police Department and council do a fine job to make sure that these very special guests in our community are honored. Their loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice to make our communities safer, and this weekend means a lot to everyone in North Wildwood”.
Here is a schedule of events for this year’s Law Enforcement Survivor’s Weekend in North Wildwood:
Friday, September 26th:
5pm—Delivery of the ceremonial wreath by the Philadelphia Police Dragon Boat Team at the North Wildwood Municipal Boat Ramp, 5th and New York Avenues, North Wildwood
Saturday, September 27th:
8:45am—5k Foot Race/1 Mile walk, starting at Chestnut and Olde New Jersey Avenues. Registration for this event begins at 7:45am.
11am—Memorial parade. Police cars, police marching units, mounted units, motorcycles, and survivor groups all march together. The line up begins at 10am, with the staging area being held between 16th and 18th Avenues, along Atlantic Avenue. A reception for parade participants will be held at the Anglesea Fire Hall.
6pm—Members of the Philadelphia Police Department Highway Patrol Motorcycle Drill team will present a mini-thrill show at 2nd and Surf Avenues, next to the Lou Booth amphitheater.
7pm—Candlelight vigil will be held at the amphitheater, including a solemn procession and a wreath laying ceremony. Survivors and other law enforcement dignitaries will be speaking at the event. A ceremonial wreath will be interned in the ocean.

Sunday, September 28th:
11am—Farewell prayer service at Montego Bay Resort
