Join Todd Pover from the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey on Saturday, May 3, for a trek down the pristine beach at Stone Harbor Point for a look at piping plovers, American oystercatchers, black skimmers and, last but not least, least terns.
Other birds that are likely to be spotted include marbled godwits, royal terns and brown pelicans plus a discussion about the breeding, biology, nesting and courtship behaviors along with some of the finer points of shorebird identification. Meet in the parking lot at 122nd street at 9 a.m. Reservations needed by May 2; call the Wetlands Institute at 368-1211. Cost is $6 members; $10 nonmembers.
