Spring Gardening Workshop and Plant Sale at Local Libraries
The Cape May County Library is pleased to offer a Spring Gardening Workshop, the second of a four part series of workshops on gardening, conducted by Karen Williams, a local gardener and owner for twenty years of the “Flora for Fauna Nursery.”
The Spring Gardening Workshop will be held at the following libraries:
Saturday, April 26 – 10 a.m.
Upper Cape Branch Library, 2050 Route 631, Petersburg (628-2607)
Saturday, May 3 – 10 a.m.
Lower Cape Branch Library, 2600 Bayshore Rd., Villas (886-8999)
Wednesday, May 14 – 6 p.m.
Main Branch Library, 30 Mechanic St., Cape May Court House (463-5230)
With the arrival of spring, gardeners are excited to begin work on their grounds, but it can be overwhelming. The “Spring Gardening Workshop” presents techniques to keep the amount of work manageable.
Topics include:
• How to plant and care for your new species so they will be healthy and independent of a lot of supplemental water.
• Mulching and other forms of weed control, using knowledge about the biology of weeds to your advantage.
• Wildlife species; beneficial species and those likely to cause problems.
The spring workshop will conclude with a plant sale of locally grown plant species that are proven to thrive in this area. For additional information please call your local library.
