Bird watching is the fastest-growing outdoor activity in the United States. Based on a survey by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 51.3 million Americans report they watch birds. Additionally, Cape May has been named one of the top ten areas to bird watch in the United States.
The Cape May County Library is delighted to offer bird watching classes at 9:00 a.m. at the following libraries:
• Lower Cape Branch Library, 2600 Bayshore Rd., Villas (886-8999) on April 11, 18 and 25
• Main Branch Library, 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House (463-6350) on April 12, 19 and 26
Proficient local birder, John Heuges shows participants how to get started in three quick and easy classes. Classes are conducted over three days, with two one hour indoor sessions followed by a third class that has a short indoor session, followed by a two hour field trip. With sixty-five years of bird watching experience, Heuges has been leading bird watchers in the field for ten years.
Registration is required and a valid Cape May County Library Card is needed. For additional information please call your local library, or visit the library’s website cmclibrary.org.
